I've drawn for more than 40 years, starting with (delicious) crayon media and progresssing to coloured pencils. I can dabble in the digital, but prefer to draw what I see and what is yet unseen, perhaps including what you'd like to then unsee. People and narratives are my preferred subjects. Pencils are my preferred media, but I'll use acrylics, ink, charcoal, digital pixels, soot and mud if it seems appropriate. I'm even dabbling in making 3d things.
I enjoy making art that amuses and intrigues people, but I'll make art to match your curtains if you pay me. Yes, I can be bought by commission or via sale of original art. Some of my work has been published in Australian and American magazines and I've won some awards. Nothing grand, though. So between distractions I default to work on my children's picture books: Mango and Doctor Chilli and My Hairy Sister.
Some of my work in progress is on the Brian Smith Art Facebook site.
I live alone in Canberra (in Australia, mate) with my family. Retired from years of government training and other education I now spend my most productive time with art...not sure what else to do.
So, maybe you can browse the galleries or even inquire about Illustration work.
